In the Byrne Organizational Psychology Lab, we are currently focusing on the study of a number of organizational constructs. We are studying organizational citizenship behaviors, leader characteristics, virtual teams, and perceived organizational support, to name a few. Below are some of the projects we are studying at this time.

Measurement of Multi-foci Justice

We are expanding on the original work of Z. Byrne on multi-foci organizational justice.

Computer-Mediated Communication

In this work, we have been studying the effects of non face-to-face media such as computers (email) and voicemail on employee reactions. Dr. Byrne is currently CO-PI on a 4-year NSF grant ($977,776) called Intelligent Personal Agents for Protecting Users in Cyberspace.

Injustice Effects on Strains

Injustice serves as a stressor, resulting in physical and psychological strains. in this work, we focus on strains such as job tension, physical symptoms, emotional exhaustion, and emotional labor. We are using physiological measures to study stress.

Employee Engagement

Our current work on employee engagement involves physiological measurement, employee surveys, and theoretical work.We have several projects underway including a large field study examinig drivers of employee engagement.

Emotions

We are interested in emotions at work, so some of our work focuses on the effects of emotions in the workplace, and the role that emotions play in the formation of justice judgments. Yes, this is my mom with me in CO in 2008.

Organizational Politics

Our work on organizational politics focuses on understanding the relationship between politics and justice, stress, and other work related constructs. We are also interested in understanding moderating relationships.
