About Us

About The Swing Society at CSU

We are a student organization at Colorado State University. We meet every week to dance, teach and learn from each other. We welcome all ages and levels of dancing, and if you come with an open heart we're sure you'll have fun!

Aside from being connected to CSU and working in cooperation with other swing groups,
we are not affiliated with any other swing organization. All kinds of swing dancing are welcome!
The most common ones you'll see at our dances are jitterbug, lindy hop, bal boa, and occasionlly shag and boogie.

We meet every Wednesday night to dance, so check our calendar to find us this week. We hope to see you there!

F.A.Q.

1. Do i need to know how to dance already?

Definetly not. We teach lessons every single week, so just show up and we'll get you going! There are always tons of beginners, so you will not be the only one.

2. Do i need to have a partner?

Again, definetly not. If there's someone you can bring who'd want to learn, then you should attempt to drag them along, the more the merrier! Bring all your friends!
However, you do not need a partner. The lessons will always rotate around so you'll get used to dancing with lots of different people. At the dances, just go up and ask someone to dance! It'll help you get better, and most people are nice. Don't worry about if they're "really good" or "way better than you". The best way for you to improve is to dance with those good dancers!

3. What do i wear?

Whatever you want! Most of our regular dancers just wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes that won't get too hot when you start dancing. Jeans and tshirts are fine, skirts and heels are fine. Whatever clothes are the best for you, wear em! Most dancers agree the most important thing is the shoes. Make sure they're comfortable and won't go flying off!
