Mom's Visit in June

Since this was a multi-day visit/trip, and I have around 200 pictures, I am going to share just the highlights. She arrived in Fort Collins on Thursday, June 15. We had dinner and walked around Old Town Fort Collins, doing a bit of window shopping. I introduced her to my favorite store in the area, The Cupboard. Friday, I had to work. Mom met me at the mall when I was done and we did a bit more shopping, eating out and seeing the town.

Day #1 in the Mountains

Saturday morning, we drove up to Estes. We drove through the park a bit, looking for animals, and then headed over to the fair grounds to see the Wool Market. The animals were very cute. We heard lots of noise in the goat and sheep barns, but the llamas and alpacas were quiet. Yarns of every natural fiber surrounded us in the sale barn. For fiberheads like us, it was a bit overwhelming. Mom and I actually did NOT buy out the entire sales barn. We each walked away with a couple of hanks of nice yarn.

I convinced her that we needed to view the sunset from Rock Cut. So up Trail Ridge Road we went.

Day #2 in the Mountains

We decided visit the historic MacGregor Ranch before heading into the park. This is adjacent to the Twin Owls trailhead, just south of Lumpy Ridge. It offers a beautiful view of Longs Peak!

Then we drove into the park, through the Fall River entrance. There were some bighorn sheep feeding in Horseshoe Park.

Up Trail Ridge Road we headed. The flowers in June are amazing!

The Kawuneeche Valley and the Colorado River on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. My favorite place in the whole world.

We finished the day with a Mexican dinner at Cisco's with the Smiths. Here's the obligatory picture of those goofy girls.

There is a Day #3 to this trip, but I haven't had the time to upload pictures... Maybe it will happen someday.
