In the past year, I have begun learning about dying and spinning my own yarns. I don't have very many projects to talk about yet. I have mostly just worked from pre-carded and pre-dyed rovings. My first samples included single ply, worsted weight and sport weight yarns of merino wool and alpaca. As these were just samples, I didn't make enough of any to make a full project. The white mountain logo on my Mountain Stocking Cap was knitted using a bit of my hand-spun white Merino (sport weight). Maybe I'll make the rest into a fair aisle stocking cap. (I don't have too many stocking caps, do I?)
For now, my first full project has been a variegated teal/greens/cream sheep's wool. The following pictures show what the unspun fiber looks like next to the final yarn, and what the yarn looks like on the spindle of the Ashford wheel I've been using.
