GOALS

 This course intends to:

  1. Discuss specific aspects of cost, productivity and cost control that are relevant for a graduate student.
  2. Discuss the implementation of these topics.
  3. Bring about a significant and lasting learning experience for all participants.
  4. Do all the above in a professional and friendly environment.

 OBJECTIVES

 At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Know the procedures used in traditional productivity analysis.
  2. Be conversant about new productivity analysis tools such as video timelapsing.
  3. Apply the results of a productivity analysis to plan an operation.
  4. Discuss the modern manufacturing production philosophies and management techniques.
  5. Discuss the implications of the Lean Construction movement.
  6. Understand the philosophy of the Theory of Constrains.
  7. Be aware of the applicability of the Theory of Constrains to construction.
  8. Know the traditional cost control procedures in construction
  9. Understand the characteristics of cost control for infrastructure projects.
