bio.
i am an assistant professor at colorado state university in the despartment of journalism and technical communication. i received a ph.d. from the annenberg school for communication, and an m.s. in regional economics, both at the university of pennsylvania in philadelphia.
my research focuses on social interaction in online contexts, from virtual worlds and games, to facebook and online information-seeking. i pay special attention to identity and the self, especially gender. with training in labor economics and several years’ experience working in international advertising, i seek to combine economic, social, and semantic research to explore the nature of the barriers we confront and coping mechanisms we use as we navigate structures of society.
