Spring Update
Thanks again goes out to all who helped make the 06-07 season
such a great success. The Alumni game was great fun as the wiley, veteran
alumni team destroyed the non-grads 21-7. At the awards banquet to follow,
team awards were handed out: Head Intern Stephanie
Sadler won the William Bach Award
"given in recognition of an outstanding individual striving for the
advancement of the CSU Ice Hockey organization." Team Assistant Captain
and graduating senior Luke Smith won the
Edwin M. Rosser Cup "for dedication
and the strongest work ethic." The USA Hockey NCAA and ACHA coaches
meeting took place in Florida last month and a few Ram players recieved
some recognition. Specifically, Team Captain Jordan
Stover, for the second season in a row, earned 1st
Team All-American Honors. Team point leader Tim
Stiller earned 2nd Team All-Western Region
and strong man Jake McFarland earned 3rd
Team All-Western Region. Congratulations to all those recognized
for their efforts. Congratulations also goes to all graduating Ram seniors
as well for their contributions to the team over the years. A special
thank you to graduation senior Jared Hillier
who has played an absolutely essential role in team leadership and adminstration
as Club President and Vice President during his stay with the team. Good
luck to all those transitioning into their professional careers and "old-man"
leagues.
The team would also like to thank the City of Fort Collins
and Mayor Doug, City Manager Darin Atteberry, and Executive Director of
Campus Life at CSU, Anne Hudgens for their recognition of the CSU Ice
Hockey Program as a runner-up for the 2006 Fort
Collins Community Civility Award. This annual event features awards
for CSU students, community members, business leaders, and groups who
have shown a commitment to neighborliness, civility, and community service.
The ceremony occured in the City Council Chambers in early April. The
team's selfless service to the community in hosting the Sam
Spady Firemen vs. Police Charity Hockey game last November sparked
the nomination process.
