Lauren O'Dell

President

Bio: Hi, my name is Lauren O’Dell and I am your newly elected President of the Pre-Veterinary Club for 2008-2009. I am happily married to my husband, Tyler, and we have a tortoise shell cat named Toffee and a beagle/basset mix named Gunner. I will be a senior this year, working toward a degree in Biological Science. I am from Fruita, Colorado and I attended Lamar Community College for two years, where I played softball and was a resident advisor. I currently work for the National Wildlife Research Center, and in my spare time, I volunteer at my church, cook, and enjoy the outdoors. I am honored to be the President of the best large student organization on campus! Every officer in the past has put so much effort into making this club outstanding and I can’t wait to continue the hard work, good times and great experiences!

Gwynn Milner

Vice President

Bio: Hey everyone! I'm the Vice President of the Pre-vet Club this year, and this is my third year as an officer. I'm a senior Microbiology major and I'm involved in a few other clubs at CSU, but Pre-vet Club is by far the best! I work at the Henry Doorly Zoo in the summers, and in my spare time (which no college student really has) I like to read and play with my puppy, Ryeli.
I'm super excited for this upcoming year and can't wait to get started!

I am a senior majoring in Animal Sciences and minoring in Business Administration. I love the outdoors and athletics. I absolutely love veterinary medicine. Currently, I am interested in exotics. I volunteer at the VTH in the zoo med department and couldn’t be happier. If you have any questions or concerns this year, please feel free to talk to me about anything. Jeff Sarek

Treasurer

Bio: Hi, my name is Jeff Sarek and I am the treasurer of the Pre-Vet Club for the 2008-2009 school years. This is my first year as an officer and I am very excited to see what this year will bring for our club. As an officer I am also very excited to be a part of a great officer team that I know will make this club continue its excellent reputation on campus. I am an upcoming sophomore majoring in microbiology and look forward to the continuing challenges and school work ahead. During the summer I work at Fremont Veterinary Hospital in Canon City, CO, and love being around animals. I mean who doesn’t!!! Along with work and playing with my two dogs Rudy (Bischon) and Hollie (Beagle), I enjoy water skiing, golf, running, and camping. As vet school draws closer and hopefully admission into the vet school here at CSU, I am undecided as to what exactly I want to do in veterinary medicine. However, I feel it would probably be in the small animal department or with exotics, and with a possible specialty in surgery. I enjoyed being a member of the Pre-Vet Club last year and I know will absolutely love being an officer for this year! Feel free to ask me for anything, especially help, and I look forward to seeing all the returning members along with all the new potential members of this outstanding club.

Kelly Horgan

Activities Coordinator

Bio: My name is Kelly Horgan and I am very excited about being your Activities Director for the 08-09 school year. I am a senior Animal Science major, Chemistry minor and I have been an active member of the Pre-Vet club for three years. Outside of school and this club I volunteer at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Center, am currently raising my fourth puppy for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and work in a research lab associated with the Animal Science Department. As a military kid I have lived all over and can say there is no place I would rather be, for my college years, than Ft. Collins. I love my house, my roommates, my animals (four dogs, one bird, lots of fish), and anything that involves a lot of people. I am happiest rock climbing in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. This club is a great way to make new friends and get involved in the community (socially and professionally). I will do everything in my power to help us along with respect to both and I look forward to meeting you!

Analisa Schilling

Newsletter Editor

Bio: Hey everyone! My name is Analisa Schilling, and this year, I am your newsletter editor for pre-vet club year! I have wanted to be a vet since fourth grade, and my dream is to open my own small practice someday. At this point, I am mostly interested in small animal medicine, but this can definitely change since I am open to other types of vet med as well! I am majoring in biomedical sciences and minoring in business here at CSU, and hope to attend the vet school here when I get to that point.
I have lived in Colorado all my life, and I am originally from Denver. In high school, I was very involved with both the school newspaper and yearbook, as well as golf and basketball. Even though I only played two main sports at this time, I am a lover of all sports and outdoor activities, and am a fan of the Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets, and Avalanche.Besides staying active, I love to cook! Whenever I have free time, I switch to the Food Network and gather new tips. Not only do I love to make food, but I love all food in general, especially peanut butter. If it wasn’t so bad for you in large amounts, I would eat it all day with a giant spoon!Another thing that I like to indulge in is my favorite tv shows, which include but are not limited to Grey’s Anatomy, House, The Bachelor, Gilmore Girls, and 7th Heaven. Also, I am a sucker for cheesy romantic novels and movies, especially Nicholas Spark’s selections.Like all of you, I am a huge animal lover and I hope to make a lasting difference in their lives some day. As for now, I have a golden retriever named Lucy who is quite the character.I am really excited for this year and the newsletter! If any of you have any ideas of things that you would like to appear in the newsletter or want to be a writer, please don’t hesitate to let me know! I would love your input!

MaryBeth Culp

Historian

Bio: Hi everyone! I'm really looking forward to being the Historian this year, I
know that we will have a lot of fun as a club! So, a quick tidbit about myself: I'm a senior Biology major and Spanish minor. I was born and raised
in Atlanta Georgia, but I moved out here because I love Colorado and would like to live here after I graduate. Right now I am looking into shelter medicine and maybe doing some work in Latin America as well so that I can use the Spanish that I have worked so hard to learn. I have a cat that lives at my parents' house in Atlanta. Her full name is Jamoca Almond Fudge (yes, after the Baskin Robin's ice cream), but I just call her Jamoca. Anyways, I hope that everyone else is as excited as I am for this year!
