West Africa Internships (2000-present).

  • Created internships for CSU students at the Songhai Center in Benin (Francophone West Africa)
  • with Martha Denney, Director of International Education. Service includes publicizing the opportunities,
  • reviewing applications, making recommendations, providing orientation sessions, helping students find funding, arranging visits, and supervising follow-up. Traveled to Yamassoukro, Côte d’Ivoire in June 2002 to visit a possible future internship site at the Centre Dominicain de Théologie et de Développement (Sankofa Center) and worked with action group at John XXIII Center in Fort Collins to help further the aims of Sankofa.
  • Traveled to the Songhai Center in Porto Novo, Benin in June 2002 to visit the site and see the CSU student intern.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Women’s Studies Project on Teaching, Curriculum and Scholarship, Spring 2004.
  • Six faculty members met to engage in activities that include the discovery of content about women in the various disciplines; the acquisition of scholarly work by women for inclusion in courses, and the introduction of and dialgogue about pedagogical practices that serve to create a more inclusive classroom. Participants explored new research questions and methodologies and identifyied new avenues of funding, publication and recurrent professional involvement. Participants received a $500 stipend to purchase materials that support their work.
