Young Yeal Song obtained his PhD degree on February 1999 at the Department of Physics at Chungbuk National University in Korea. He has investigated magnetic and microwave properties of substituted Yttrium Iron Garnet.

He joined the Magnetics Group in October 2000 as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Presently he is involved in the Office of Naval Research (ONR) microwave ferrite program. He works on fabrication and charcaterization of high quality ferrite films for microwave and millimeter wave device applications. The fabrication technic is pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and liguid phase epitaxy (LPE).

He likes Fort Collins very much especially green grass and blue sky. He enjoy driving around and doing some shopping with his wife and daughter when he has spare time at the weekends.
