Sergey Lebedev had a permanent position at Moscow State Engineering Physics Institute in the laboratory of applied magneto optics. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1991 for the studies of the excitation and spatial distribution of magnetostatic modes in layered metal-dielectric-ferrite structures. His special scientific interest is the characterization of not uniform and time dependent magnetic field contributions in materials prospective for microwave applications.
He joined the Magnetic Group at CSU in late September 2000. Momentarily he is reassembling a low-temperature FMR setup. He is planning to get involved in exciting investigations using Brillouin light scattering. He also wants to push fundamental research for the development and design of new YIG based devices.
He enjoys the environment of Ft. Collins, especially the mountains. And he is pleased to meet many friendly people at CSU and in town. What can he say about his spare time? he doesn't know yet.
