Alex V. Nazarov completed his B.S. (June 1996) and M.S. (June 1998) degrees at Saint-Petersburg State Technical University in Russia. From 1995 to 1998, he worked with Professor A.G. Gurevich at Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute (St.-Petersburg, Russia). His M.S. thesis focused on spin wave relaxation processes in single crystal yttrium iron garnets and barium hexagonal ferrites.

In July 1998, Alexey V. Nazarov joined the Magnetic Group at CSU. In July 2002, he successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis which focused on theoretical and experimental investigation of spin wave instability processes in anisotropic ferrite materials. Theoretically and experimentally he investigated magnetization dynamics, ferromagnetic resonance, and spin wave instability processes in magnetic materials. He performed high power microwave characterizations of single crystal and polycrystalline magnetic materials such as permalloy films, yttrium iron garnet, lithium ferrites, and hexagonal ferrites.

In 2001, Alexey V. Nazarov has had a three month summer internship with Seagate Technology in Minneapolis, where he worked on magnetic noise in giant and tunneling magnetoresistive sensor structures.

He likes to play soccer and tennis, as well as travel, go skiing and hiking.
