M. Olson set out to learn astronomy at the University of Arizona.
As she worked towards her bachelors degree she found that physics was her
true calling.
She graduated in spring of 2001 with a B.S.
in astronomy and physics.
Heidi came to Colorado State University in fall 2001 to continue her work
in physics towards a Ph.D.
and joined the magnetics group in summer of 2002.
Although Heidi has not been with the magnetics group long, the time that
she has been working with them has been very fruitful.
She has learned how to do low power FMR measurements and how to calibrate
a cavity using the High Power System.
In addition to this she has constructed a new TE102 cavity for the High
Power System which allows for the magnet to rotate around it.
This will be used to look at angular FMR measurments of permalloy thin films.
Heidi will very soon begin work to measure YIG and LPE films with the EPR system.
