Christoph Mathieu, after having finished his Ph.D. thesis in July 1998 in the group of Prof. Hillebrands in Kaiserslautern, Germany, joined the Colorado State University group in October 1998. Christoph's thesis dealt mainly with Brillouin light scattering (BLS) investigations of dynamic magnetic properties of artificially structured thin magnetic films. During the first year at CSU he performed a total upgrade of the BLS system to a completely computer controlled instrument with a spatial resolution of about 30 micrometers, one nanosecond temporal resolution and a wave vector selectivity of about 50 cm-1. At present he is working on nonlinear three magnon interaction processes. He will leave in summer 2001 for a position at the read/write head development division of the Seagate in Minneapolis.
