Steven J. Rehse
Graduate Research Assistant

Steve Rehse received a B.S. in physics from Michigan Technological University.  During his undergraduate work, he participated in the Science and Engineering Research Semester, sponsored through the Department of Energy, as an intern at Los Alamos National Laboratory.  During this time period he worked on a project attempting to use laser-induced fluorescence as a diagnostic tool for the in situ measurement of nuclear thermal rocket (NTR) fuel elements.

Upon graduation, Steve returned to Los Alamos where he worked on the CALIOPE LIDAR project in the detectors group.  There they developed a novel heterodyne detection system that allowed simultaneous detection of up to 16 frequency channels on one detector chip.

Steve came to CSU in the Fall of 1995 and received his M.S. in the Spring of 1996.  He joined the Lee group in the summer of 1996 and led the investigations into neutral metastable atom lithography and nanostructure fabrication.  He is currently studying the laser focusing of gallium and indium for use during molecular beam epitaxy growth of III-V compounds.

Steve was born in northern Wisconsin in a city called Tomahawk and has always been a loyal Packers fan.
