HY 301 HISTORICAL METHODS:
Political Violence in
the Late Roman Republic
Students will hone their skills as historians by researching,
discussing, and writing on the topic of Roman political violence
from the Gracchi to the death of Julius Caesar. Emphasis will
be given to refining those abilities that allow historians
to make sophisticated historical arguments in both written
and spoken form. These abilities include (but are not limited
to) forming argumentative theses, finding and properly citing
evidence, and critically analyzing both primary sources and
modern scholarship. The course webpage is available here.
