| John Elder is Associate Professor of Finance and the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Faculty Fellow. He has published nearly 30 articles in academic journals, including JFQA, JMCB, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Financial Review and Journal of Futures Markets. His research has been cited by the U.S. Congress (Joint Economic Committee), practitioners (Institutional Shareholder Services) and popular textbooks (Mergers, Acquistions.. and Guide to Econometrics). He also is very grateful for having been nominated by students for the Beta Gamma Sigma Most Influential Faculty Member Award (CSU), Odney University Teaching Award (NDSU) and the College Teaching Award (NDSU). He serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Economics and Finance and the International Journal of Applied Portfolio Management, has co-edited a special issue of Macroeconomic Dynamics. He has previously served as Associate Dean of Graduate and Executive Education (NDSU). He completed his PhD in economics with a field in financial economics at the University of Virginia. John also has considerable professional experience, with his company (Elder Macroeconomic Analysis, LLC) serving as an economic and process adviser for investment managers with billions of dollars in management. He has special interests in socially responsible investing and he holds two prominent professional designations, the CFA charter and the FRM designation. John Elder has lived in Vermont, Virginia, ND and the New York metro area. In his spare time, he tries to mountain bike, ski, camp, hike, canoe, whitewater kayak, run recreationally, swim competitively, any other water sport (like scuba), and travel (sometimes on wheels, but often with his two children). | ||
