Purpose of the Organization:

The Honors Student Association exists to represent the interests of the Honors students at the university and to promote the Honors Program on campus and elsewhere.  The groups works to promote communication and interaction among students, faculty and staff.  Special events and service activities are organized to augment the academic and social lives of Honors students.

For example, the Honors Student Association sponsors the Honors Professor of the Year Award and the Honors Academic Advisor of the Year Award.  They solicit nominations and the officers serve as the selection committee. The awards are announced at the Spring Graduation Luncheon by the President of the HSA.   The Honors Professor Lecture in the fall is hosted by the HAS.

Activities of the organization in 2008-09 included a six session Honors Student Leadership Development series, creation of valentines for Children’s Hospital patients, a painting project with children at the Larimer County Boys and Girls Club, and sponsorship of a gift and toy solicitation for families in the Northern Colorado Aids Project.
