How to contact your legislators

Here's how to contact your US federal government representatives.

Senators

You can find your senators from the Senate Web site. Go to

www.senate.gov

and select your state from the list at the top of the page.

You'll get a list of your senators' names, addresses, and telephone numbers. Click on a name to go to that senator's Web site, or click on the "Web form" link to send an email.

Congressmen

You can find your representative in Congress from the House Web site. Go to

www.house.gov

and enter your ZIP code at the top, then click "Go."

You'll be shown the name of your representative. Click on the name to go to his or her Web site, which has contact information.

Note that you'll need your nine-digit ZIP code. If you don't know it, it's quickest to look at the labels on your incoming mail, but you can also look it up at the Postal Service's ZIP+4 lookup Web site.

White House
