The Imagemakers: Bill Moyers' A Walk Through the 20th Century.
PBS documentary addresses the role of public relations in modern society, focusing on the work of pioneer counselors Ivy Lee and Edward L. Bernays (Originally aired 1984; 50 mins.)

Land of Hype and Glory NBC Reports with Edwin Newman explores the role of promotion and public relations in the rock music, book publishing and motion picture industries. (Originally aired 1978; 50 mins.)

Communications That Count Overview of the contributions that public relations can make to the corporate "bottomline." Directed primarily to senior corporate executives, the tape reviews recent examples of how corporations used public relations in areas such of government relations, trade, and community relations. (Produced by The Institute for Public Relations Research and Education, 1990; 28 mins.)

Opinion of the Publics A somewhat outdated but still useful overview of public relations programs at work in a broad range of organizations. (Produced by the Foundation for Public Relations Research and Education, 1972; 33 mins.)

Television Publicity A major public relations agency's experience in using television is examined with various clips demonstrating techniques, including spokesperson tours, video news releases, events, documentaries and special productions. "A Rumor...A Run..." A classic case study in how a rumor about the institution's financial condition prompted large- scale withdrawals by panicked depoistors at major S&L in Tulsa. Tape chronicles how the rumor began, the role of the press in creating awareness of the problem, and how public confidence was restored. L.L.L. Bean's Mount Everest Peace Climb How a major Maine-based direct marketer sponsored an international event to enhance its reputation and promote its winter outdoor gear. (Produced by Agnew Carter McCarthy, Boston, 1992. 10 mins.)

"60 Minutes": Our Reply After the CBS weekly newsmagazine aired a story criticizing Illinois Power for cost overruns in construction of its Clinton nuclear power plant, the utility produced this now-classic response, which systematically analyzed and refuted points in the original story using footage recorded by the company during Harry Reasoner's on-site interview. (Produced by Illinois Power, 1979; 40 mins.)
