    A cooperative entity between Colorado State University and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), The Colorado Natural Heritage Program provides high quality information on the condition, location, and status of more than 800 imperiled animals and plants, plus over 500 wildlife habitat types, unique open spaces and natural areas of significance in Colorado.

NatureServe - An Online Encyclopedia of Life

    A source for authoritative conservation information on more than 50,000 plants, animals, and ecological
communities of the United States and Canada.  NatureServe provides in-depth information on rare and endangered species, but includes common plants and animals too.
The Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center

    Through this link, one will find resources with regard to North American invertebrates.  Such resources provided by the NPWRC are:  Identification tools for invertebrates, distributions, butterfly checklists,  species accounts and descriptions, among others.
    Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center is an entity of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as the Biological Resources Division (BRD).  Their mission is to conduct  biological research for all Department of Interior land management entities, such as the USFWS, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management.  Among their responsibilities is to include ecological research and monitoring on the entire flora and fauna of the nation's northern and central grasslands.  Heavy emphasis is placed upon dissemination of biological information to decisionmakers and the American public.
