This scenario follows the continued advance of the 39th Motor Rifle Division (Barvenkove Division, Red Banner) as it moves to secure a crossing of the Wisla (Vistula) River.
In the aftermath of the Battle for Ilawa, NATO moved to strengthen its line of defense. The news of the strength of the T-80U was very unwelcome. NATO continued to try to get the Americans to commit forces to the defense of Poland, hoping that the American M1s could stop the Pact force. But continued to have no success. The Germans pushed to get the Leopard 2 (Improved) into the field.
But the Russians were not about to wait.
This scenario will be different in that it will be played by email. I will provide a map (with Daryl's help) of the board. Players will command either battalions or higher (for NATO), and regiments/brigades or higher (for the Pact). Players will then issue written orders to their subordinate units, which I will execute on the board. Players will get pictures of what they can see, if it is significant.
Deadlines for this game will be flexible. I can normally only get the camera over the weekends. So I'll be working around that consideration.
Here are the pictures of the board:
