NEW NATIONAL INITIATVE
The 109th congress, prior to ending its 2nd session
has worked diligently with the National Park Service, the Interior
Secretary and the National Truth Agency to develop a plan that will
lessen the goverment's burden on the taxpayers of the country.
H.R. 1181, which is expected to be signed into law by President Bush
at a signing ceremony in Yellowstone National Park, dictates the
conditions under which corporate sponsorship and governance of national
parks can be conducted. Corporate citizens, looking to alleviate strains
on consumer spending, can acquire National Parks Partner Status. Partners
will run concessions, police the park, set improvement limits and
revenue share with all concerts and events hosted within park boundaries.
Not only will management costs decrease, but profits from events in the
parks will be directed to the general fund of the U.S. Treasury.
The NTA is proud to be a part of this major effort. NTA ethicists studied
the proposal and confirmed that since the corporations must be headquartered
in the United States, there is no direct conflict of interest. Without
this important Truth, such a proposal would likely have been taken to
the courts, reducing the tax benefit to the consumers of our great
nation.
The first two parks to have National Park Partners are Yosemite and
Rocky Mountain. The NTA is proud to present their Corporate Citizen
Names:
The use of the parks for expanded interpretation is also being actively
explored. Surveys conducted reveal that 73.8% of visitors find the
historical, cultural, and environmental interpretations of these
national treasures to be stilted and lacking entertainment value. To
that end the Park Service is working with members of the entertainment
industry to increase park offerings. The first such project is a
collaborative effort:
Since the announcement of the National Parks Partners Program
by the government at the beginning of November, many corporate citizens
have come forward to help our country in a time of need. Our newest
partners are represented below. It is with pride that we at the NTA
note the cultural sensitivity of these partnerships.
Corporate citizens wishing to become National Parks Partners
should contact the National Park Service. We look forward to reducing
the debt and improving the services in the parks.
