Constitution

NAME

Title

The title of this organization shall be the Pagan Student Alliance (PSA).

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Pagan Student Alliance is to provide a forum for Pagans and others interested in Pagan ways. To educate the public on what Pagan beliefs do and do not entail.

MEMBERSHIP

Active Members

This organization is open to all CSU students interested in Pagan beliefs. They have the right to vote, and hold office.

Associate Members

This organization is open to faculty and interested people outside the University setting. They may vote, but cannot hold office.

Alumni Members

This organization is open to former CSU students who were members of the organization. They may not vote or hold office.

Membership Rules of Order

Persons interested in becoming members must submit a way to be contacted by the organization in the event of a change in schedule or location. Colorado State University’s recognized student organizations shall not deny membership to any student on the basis of race, age, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status or disability.

Duties of members

Dues

No mandatory dues shall be instated.

Removal of members

If a member is found to be disrupting, counter-productive, overly rude, or acts against the organization, he/she can be removed, or asked to leave by a majority vote of Officers present, or 3/4-majority vote of current members. The removal process will be conducted in a special meeting (hearing), not a regular meeting. The offending member shall be contacted in writing 7 days prior to the special meeting.

ELECTED OFFICERS

Officers

There shall be four Officers that shall have equal say, and influence in the organization. The titles shall be the officers of: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.  Two of these positions will make up the executive board. Only active CSU students may fill these positions.

Duties of Officers

The duties of the officers shall be to provide a positive environment for the meetings, keep members informed of new information, educate people that have an interest to learn about the organization, and uphold the values of the Pagan religions.

Election of Officers

Officers shall be volunteers from within the organization that are willing to invest a substantial amount of time and represent the organization in meetings, and in public. The current board of officers shall approve new officers. If there are no returning/current officers, then the prospective officers must be approved by a 2/3-majority of current members.

Removal of Officers

If an officer no longer feels adequate, or no longer wants to fill the position, he/she may step down at any time. If an officer is not contributing to the organization, or displaying actions against the organization, he/she can be removed by 2/3-majority vote of officers present, or 3/4-majority vote of current members, The removal process will be conducted in a special meeting (hearing), not a regular meeting. MEETINGS

Business Meetings

Standard meetings will be every week, at a time and place arranged by the Board of Officers. Any changes to amendments in this constitution shall be made at these meetings.

Executive Board Meetings

If deemed necessary by a member of the Board of Officers, a meeting of the Board of Officers will be called at the soonest possible convenience, as to have all board members present.

ADVISOR

Choosing Advisor

The prospective advisor(s) will be chosen by the Board of Representatives by the second meeting in the beginning of the fall semester. The Board of Officers will choose the prospective advisor(s) by the second meeting in the beginning of the fall semester.

Qualifications

The advisor must be a CSU faculty/staff member who has an interest in serving as an advisor.

Duties

The advisor will have no duties, will not have voting rights, but can offer advice, and participate in any activity within the organization.

AMENDMENTS

Amendments may be recommended by any member of the organization, and will be discussed in an official standard meeting as soon as possible. Proposed amendments, will be in written form, and announced to all members seven days prior to being voted on. Amendments shall be discussed in the meeting with all members that are present, and must be agreed upon by a 2/3-majority vote of the current membership to pass.

FINANCIAL STRUCTURE

Any finances that are acquired by the Pagan Student Alliance shall be used only for the organization. The only people authorized to utilize finances belonging to the Pagan Student Alliance are the Officers. All intakes, and expenditures, will be kept track of by a single Officer. This Representative will be chosen by the Board of Officers, and may be changed to another Officer at any time deemed necessary.

BYLAWS

There are no current bylaws. Bylaws may be added at any time by a 2/3-majority vote of the membership present. Bylaws will expire at the end of the academic year.

COMMITTEES

There shall be one committee called the Applied Paganism group. The Board of Officers will decide who will lead this group. The Applied Paganism group is open only to active members and is for the application of principles discussed in regular meetings.
