The Colorado State University Rodeo Club is one of the largest and most
active "club sports" organizations on the CSU campus. The club consists
of approximately 50 active members who work to promote the sport of
rodeo and compete within the ranks of the National Intercollegiate
Rodeo Association (NIRA). We have approximately 30 active members of
NIRA, these members compete at the 10 NIRA sanctioned rodeos within the
Central Rocky Mountain Region (Colorado,Wyoming, and Nebraska). The
highlight of these rodeos is the Skyline Stampede which is held in
April at the 43,000 sq. feet Bill Pickett Equine Teaching Center Arena,
which
seats just over 2,000. CSU not only has the distinction of holding the
first official college rodeo, but has competed successfully on the
regional and national level since then. The top two individuals in each
event and the top two teams within the region qualify to compete at the
College National Finals Rodeo. The club members that don't compete in
NIRA sanctioned rodeos enjoy the sport, friendships and activities of
the club, and are an integral part of our organization. |
