  • "Movie Madness"
    Join Active Minds at CSU to screen free movies that are relevant to issues of mental health!  A panel of experts will host a discussion following the movie.

  • Learn to Make Origami Cranes
    • Anyone interested in learning to make paper origami cranes are invited to try their hand at making a paper crane on their own.
    • Why Cranes You Ask?  Well, the First Lady of Colorado plans to use these cranes for a dramatic presentation announcing her new mental health initiative in late Spring.
    • What a great opportunity to advocate on behalf of mental health issues in this state.
    • Stop by our office hours at the LSC, Room S13 and get some paper to make your own cranes.
      • Here is a link to a website showing you how it is done.
      • We have a box outside our office door for you to drop off your completed cranes.
  • Peer Support Groups
    Do you ever feel depressed or anxious?  Feel like no one understands?  You are not alone.  Join Active Minds at CSU for our confidential and informal peer support groups.  Members discuss the realities of mental illnesses and ways to reduce stigma as well as how they have used their own coping skills to manage mental illness. 
    When is the next Group?

  • Suicide Awareness Training
    • Using the QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) method adopted by our counseling center, come to a free training on suicide prevention
    • The training takes about 90 minutes and you will then be ready to appropriately respond to a friend's need

    • What to Bring:  Yourself and an email confirmation that you are coming to the event to activemindsatcsu@gmail.com
    • It is important to confirm your attendance by email so that we have enough material available to hand out to you during the training
  • SCREAMFEST and Recess
    • Come join Active Minds at CSU in helping to destress before finals by "screaming" in unison in front of the library.  It is an event that will be held nationally by most Active Minds chapters during National Stress Out Week
    • When:  11am on Friday, April 25, 2008 right in front of the entrance to the library.
    • Recess:  Fun and Games will be ongoing from 10am to noon that day.   

  • Open Your Mind Fair
    • As part of National Stress Out Week, Active Minds Members will be having a table at the Open Your Mind Fair held on the Lory Student Center Plaza.
    • When: April 22, 2008 from 10am to 2pm.  For more information click on the link.
    • We will be doing anxiety screenings for this event.  Come visit us and find out about your stress level.
  • EVENTS TO SUPPORT IMPORTANT CAUSES
    • Taking Strides to Save Lives:
      • The Suicide Resource Center of Larimer County is hosting their annual walk to raise funds for their organization.  Please join Active Minds members and register and walk to support the local agency devoted to helping people who have survived suicide or are needing peer support.
      • When is it?  May 2, 2008 at 6:30pm in Old Town Square, the center of Fort Collins.  To learn how to register and donate, click on the following link.

    • Spirit Crossing Bowlathon:
      • Spirit Crossing is a clubhouse that is devoted to helping people with chronic mental illnesses find stable jobs in the community.  They are hosting a bowlathon to help support training efforts for the members.  The event will be held at Chipper's Lane, North on May 17, 2008.
      • For information on registering and forming a team, contact the clubhouse at 493-4053.  Come have fun bowling and support a great cause.
