January 23, 2008

Hello everyone!

I’m Stephanie Tanny, ACF Treasurer, and as Jonathan mentioned in the last weekly message, I have taken over responsibility of the website. I spent winter break working on this new layout, so I hope you all enjoy it! Here is a little more information about me for those I have not gotten a chance to meet or talk to:

I am originally from Bandung, Indonesia, and I grew up in Denver, Colorado. I went to college at Colorado School of Mines, but then transferred to Colorado State University in Fall 2006. I am twenty years old (twenty one in a couple days!) and currently a junior Microbiology major with minors in English and Ethnic Studies.

As far as web experience goes, I have been creating and maintaining websites for myself as well as various organizations for nine years now. Probably the most prestigious position I’ve had was when I was elected as the National Technology Coordinator for the Junior Classical League (which is an international organization of over 50,000 students, teachers, and mentors of the Greek and Latin languages). I also currently work for Asian/Pacific American Student Services, a CSU advocacy office, as their Communications and Webpage Coordinator. Basically, I love doing this stuff, and I want to assure everyone that you all are in good hands!

Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Here are the events and activities for the coming week:

- Friday Night Fellowship continues this Friday, January 25, 2008 at 6:30 PM at the Dupper's home in Fort Collins (directions). Our hosts will provide a delicious home-cooked meal, and then we will have fellowship, singing, prayer, and a discussion on James 1 led by Jonathan Vigh. Always feel free to invite a friend! (Friday Night Fellowship is not an official ACF activity)

- The CSU Collegiate Worship Service continues this Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:15 AM at the Danforth Chapel on the CSU Campus (directions). Refreshments are served at 10:15 AM, and then the service should start promptly at 10:30 AM. Ben Trujillo will be this week's speaker. (CSU Collegiate Worship is not an official ACF activity)

January 17, 2008

Greetings,

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that we're already halfway through January already, but time marches on. Friday Night Fellowship starts up this week, and ACF will be holding winter elections in the next few weeks. You can expect some changes at ACF - for one, Stephanie Tanny will be taking over as webmaster for our web site. Stephanie has already done a lot of work on a fresh, new redesign of the site, and you'll probably be seeing this very soon. I have enjoyed serving as webmaster over the last few years, but I'll be moving on soon and it's time to pass the torch. I may still write some of the weekly messages, but expect to also see other ACF members getting involved in that. We're hoping to have a great semester of events and activities which will bring our group closer together, and closer to God.

Here's this week's text (yeah, I know I already included this one recently, but it's one of my favorites and is quite appropriate for the beginning of the year):

For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NKJV).

Here are the events and activities for the coming week:

- The first Friday Night Fellowship of the semester will be this Friday, January 18, 2008 starting at 6:30 PM at the Eickmann's home in Campion (click here for directions to Eickmann's house). Our hosts will provide a scrumptious supper, then we'll have time for fellowship, singing, prayer, and a discussion on a topic relevant to young adults and collegiates. Feel free to invite a friend. (Friday Night Fellowship is not an official ACF activity.)

- Just a calendar note, the next Collegiate Worship Service at Danforth will be January 26, 2008.

- Winterfest payment information will be distributed sometime early next week to all those who expressed interest in coming. Due to a couple cancellations, it's possible that there may be a few more spots available - if you are interested in a possible spot, please contact Jonathan Vigh (970-492-9841).
