EVENTSAdventist Winterfest 2003February 28 - March 2, 2003 Overview:Adventist Christian Fellowship at CSU (ACF) will be joining a couple thousand Adventist youth for an epic winter festival of skiing/snowboarding, dynamic worship, and Christian fellowship up at Copper Mountain and Breckinridge, CO from Friday, Feb. 28 to Sunday, Mar. 2. There will be a couple thousand Adventist high school and college students from schools across the United States including Andrews University, Southern Adventist University, La Sierra University, and Walla Walla College. ACF has reserved a condo for Friday night (February 28) and Saturday night (Mar 1) for the great price of only $40 per person for both nights, or $20 for one night! Sorry, but all spots have now been reserved. I have registered our group of 11 so that we can enjoy the free lunch on Sabbath, so don't register yourself separately, otherwise there will be duplicate entries and a waste of food and money. Directions:Take I-70 west to Exit #205 (Silverthorne/Dillon Exit). Make a RIGHT off the exit ramp onto Blue River Parkway. Get in LEFT lane. At the next light, make a LEFT onto Wildernest Road. Continue following this road uphill about 1 Mile to the Wildernest Check-In Center (next to Conoco). If you get lost, call the Wildernest Hospitality Center at (970)468-6291. At the check-in center, ask for a map or directions to Treehouse 302D. The condo is in my name (Jonathan Vigh), and I plan to have it checked in by 5:00 pm Friday. Here is the schedule for the weekend:Friday, February 285:00 AM Some of us will head up Friday morning to ski at Breckinridge or Vail. Others may be heading up early afternoon, so check around to find who you can carpool with. 5:00 PM This is the time we plan to have the condo opened. Our guaranteed check-in isn't until 6 pm though, so there is a slight chance that we might have to wait to open up the condo. 7:30 PM Vespers by Pacific Union College and Columbia Union College.
Saturday, March 110:00 AM Sabbath School by Southwestern Adventist College and Walla Walla College 11:20 AM Worship by Union College 12:30 PM Free Lunch (meal ticket required) Alternate Sabbath afternoon activity -- Todd and some others will be going snowshoeing. Ask Todd for more information. Please be aware that the Avalanche danger is currently set to HIGH and there is an Avalanche Warning for the Central mountains, meaning that both natural and human triggered avalanches are likely. Please consult Colorado Avalanche Information Center for more information and do not venture into any questionable areas. ACF is not sponsoring this activity, so it is not considered a part of ACF's Winterfest activities for liability reasons. 2:30 PM Bible Snow Carving by Rocky Mountain Conference 3:00 PM Presentation by Ellen G White Estate 5:00 PM Vespers by La Sierra University and Andrews University 6:00 PM Free Supper (meal ticket required) -- some may go to alumni events (also with food) put on by the various colleges Evening activities including table games, 3 on 3 basketball, and lift ticket sales. Back at the condo we will probably have board games as well. Some may want to go night skiing at Keystone.
Sunday, March 28:30 AM Condo check out Skiing at either Breckinridge or Copper Mountain 10:00 AM Slalom Race at Copper Mountain NASTAR Course 4:00 PM Awards Ceremony 4:30 PM Everyone heads home Here are all the details about the accommodations:Location:1) Our condo is in Silverthorne at the Wildernest. It is 302D in the 'Treehouse' section. We are planning to have the condo 'open' by 5 pm Friday (check-in isn't guaranteed until 6 pm, so it is possible that we might have to wait until then before we can open the condo). 2) Church Services and vespers programs are at the Breckenridge High School. 3) Skiing at Copper (and other nearby resorts) -- some of us may go Friday and Sunday, but most everyone will ski Sunday at either Copper or Breckinridge
Lodging Amenities:1) There are beds for 8 people, a full bed in each of the two bedrooms, and a couple beds up in the loft. 2) There are 2 bathrooms. 3) The condo has a kitchen – see food info below. 4) We got the economy deal, so there's no hot tub or pool access. The following people have already paid and secured their spots. Proposed sleeping arrangements are below. If you are listed as sleeping on the floor, please bring a sleeping bag and any other sleeping materials you may want to have.
1. Jonathan Vigh (floor) 2. Jotham Matabi (floor) 3. Todd Rivas (floor) 4. Allison Ordelheide (bedroom 1) 5. Dan Turk (loft) 6. Carol Turk (loft) 7. Carol Loree (loft) 8. Eric Sigler (floor) 9. Mike Clark (bedroom 2) 10. Crystal Clark (bedroom 2)
Here are the people who have said they are coming, but haven't paid yet: 11. Steve Eickmann (floor) Here are the details on food:The meals that will be taken at the condo include Friday supper and Sabbath and Sunday breakfast. Carol has volunteered to coordinate the food activities. There is a free lunch and free supper at the Breckinridge High School on Sabbath, but you must have a meal ticket. I have registered us for 11 people for lunch and 6 for supper (some of us will likely be going to various alumni dinners Sat. night or go out to eat, so I didn't reserve meal tickets for all, but I figured some of us might use them). Bring a lunch for skiing on Sunday, or you can buy food in the lodges at the ski resort. Lift tickets:1) Everyone will need to make their own arrangements for the lift tickets. Right now, the majority of us are planning at skiing at Breckinridge, since most of us already have the Vail Resorts season pass. But many of the people from across the country will be skiing at at Copper (which is cheaper if you don't have a season pass). Also, some of us will go up early Friday and ski at Breckinridge. 2) Winterfest deals at Copper Mountain -- the special rates mentioned below are available through the Conference -- see the Winterfest web site www.adventistwinterfest.org: a. 4 day-pass $82.00 available from the Rocky Mountain SDA Conference (Restrictions: every Saturday in March are blackout dates. Cannot be used by more than one person on the same day.) b. Adult 1 day $35 (compare that to the $61 window price) c. Youth 1 day $31 d. Child 1 day $18 3) If we all want to ski at Breckinridge Sunday, I think you can find lift tickets (either through coupons that we can get, or by buying lift tickets ahead of time at Gart Sports) for about $45.
