RESEARCH EXPERIENCE & ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Computational: Performed ab initio and semi-empirical MO calculations; Performed crystal field calculations on nucleic acid bases; Developed software to compute electron density and rotational strengths; Developed methods to perform protein and nucleic acid CD calculations; Performed MD simulations.

Experimental: Performed protein-folding studies on T7 RNA polymerase using CD and fluorescence spectroscopy.

Molecular Modeling: Performed molecular dynamics simulations of myoglobin and protein secondary structures; Analyzed water structure from MD trajectories; Performed CD calculations of Ff gene-5-protein and BPTI mutants.

Computer Software: Developed software for the analysis of protein CD spectra (SELCON and CDPro); Developed software for computing protein and nucleic acid CD spectra; Developed algorithm for identifying protein secondary structure; Familiar with GROMOS, AMBER, INSIGHT and GAUSSIAN software packages; Familiar with FORTRAN, Pascal, and Unix.

Protein Structure Analysis: Developed algorithm for identifying poly(Pro)II conformation in protein structures; Developed methods to estimate protein secondary structures from CD spectra; Developed algorithm for predicting the number of a-helical and b-sheet segments from CD; Performed structural analysis of bI and bII proteins; Developed methods for analyzing membrane protein CD.

Bioinformatics: Developing methods to combine experimentally derived secondary structure information with sequence-based protein structure prediction algorithms.
