This means that forestry operations, conducted by private contractors, becomes costly: In fact, too costly to create the overall landscape approach needed to create sustainable systems for wildlife and plant ecosystems and protect against catastrophic wildfire. Fortunately, this is a problem with a potential solution: If markets can be created for small-diameter wood products, such as Christmas trees, then we can afford to provide the long-term protection of our forest health. And it simply means buying products that are produced locally, with environmentally sound forestry practices. But we need your help. If you are interested in purchasing such local, small-diameter products in the future, please fill out our questionnaire, the link is above. We will keep you appraised, by email, of the availability any product that you might be interested in purchasing. Not all products are currently available. |
